- Design flexibility
Altherma by Daikin can be installed just about anywhere within a property. Altherma by Daikin air-to-water heat pump system comprises three components: Outdoor unit, indoor unit and hot water cylinder. The ultra compact design allows the Altherma by Daikin to be installed to suit your requirements.
- No hidden operating costs
Altherma is a refrigerant based heating system. This therefore means that Altherma does not require glycol antifreeze as required for other air source and ground source heat pump systems. As recommended under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme glycol based antifreeze must be checked annually for correct concentration to prevent freezing of the thermal transfer fluid and potential costly damage to the heating system or heat pump. Further to this annual requirement, the completely replacement of the glycol antifreeze should be undertaken to the glycol manufacturer's instructions. Typically this may require the complete replacement of the glycol every 6-7 years.
The Altherma, being refrigerant based, has no such additional costs.
- Low ambient temperature performance
Altherma by Daikin incorporates the very latest inverter compressor and heat exchanger technology and uses the most energy efficient refrigerant R-410A. R410a is a non ozone depleting refrigerant.
- Outstanding power performance
Althema by Daikin state-of-the-art electronic controls are harmonised to achieve the highest recorded operating efficiencies in all weather conditions (down to minus-15°C) producing water temperatures from 25°C up to 55°C without supplementary electric heating or buffer tanks. The Altherma HT will now produce temperatures up to 80°C.
- Minimal installation disruption
The three Altherma by Daikin components can be located in sympathy with your home or project. Installation is usually completed within two days. The system can be linked to your existing radiators or incorporated in a new build with fan coil heaters, radiators, underfloor heating or skirting heating.

Installation of any heat pump must be based upon sensible life-time operational costs and standards.
The Altherma simulation report allows you to compare estimated fuel savings and CO2 savings. This will allow informed decisions to be made.

The indoor Hydro Box (HB) is a wall mounted compact unit that can be fitted almost anywhere in the house. It does not require flues or ventilation. It is connected to the outdoor ventilation via refrigeration pipe work. The function of the HB is to transfer the absorbed heat from the outdoor unit to the house heating system and sanitary hot water system. | The extremely quiet, weatherproofed outdoor unit can be located up to 70 metres away from the indoor Hydro Box. It contains the heart of the heat pump system, absorbs low grade heat from the ambient air, upgrades it to high grade heat which is transferred via refrigeration pipe work to the indoor unit. | Daikin domestic hot water tank is complete with recirculation connection, 1.2mm tank sensor, tank heater overload and control.
