Why is choosing the right installer important

Date added: Thu 21 Mar 2024

Choosing the right installer is crucial in determining whether you'll enjoy an energy-efficient, trouble-free system or end up with a cold house and a hole in your pocket.

MCS Accredited

Picking the right installer starts from asking for evidence of their accreditations. The Microgeneration Scheme (MCS) is an accredited scheme with set standards for heat pump installers and designers. If your installer and designer is MCS accredited, you can be assured that you will receive a system that meets industry standards.

MCS accreditation not only ensures your install will be completed to a high standard but also is a requirement for the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme.

Did you know The Natural Energy Company has been MCS accredited since 2009!

Experience

With the rise in demand of renewable heating systems in the UK and resulting shortfall in the number of trained installers has led to a dramatic increase in newly qualified renewable heating engineers. Unfortunately, this lack of experience can result in poorly designed installations, faulty systems and major inconveniences to the customer.

To avoid disappointment it is important to go with an installer with experience and a genuine knowledge of what system is right for you.

  • This starts from the heat loss survey of your property. During which the team will measure your property, windows and evaluate what renewable technology would best benefit your property.

  • Be wary of installers who are trying to hard sell. A heat pump system is not suitable for every home so find an installer who will provide honest advice on whether a heat pump would be best for your property.

  • Ensure you receive a tailored quote based on an in-depth understanding of your property's requirements. Each heat pump system should be customised to fit your home's unique specifications, eschewing the one-size-fits-all approach.

  • Prioritize reading reviews and engaging with the installer until you're confident they're the perfect match for your installation needs.

Customer Reviews

The installation process from start to finish was at a highest level the communication with the team from the start was impressive, I appreciated the honest opinion as I felt they did not want just to sell the service but they genuine wanted to provide the best solution for my house. I appreciate how smooth the installation went and the working ethic was at the highest level with a touch to details and a carrying approach. I did not give 5 star for value for money as they were not the cheapest however I picked them due to the knowledge and professionalism that they put onto the table. After the installation process I would pick them again.

The service we received from the Natural Energy Company was excellent throughout. They cared about our project and were always willing to answer questions and provide advice to us - coming from a position of near ignorance, it was a great source of reassurance to be able to work with such a professional, friendly, and supportive organisation and we appreciated every element of guidance along the way. The end result is excellent and we would be happy to recommend them.

We had the Natural Energy Company replace our oil boiler with a new air source heat pump, and their appointed plumber also replaced much of the pipework and many of the old radiators. From the start the company showed a high degree of technical knowledge, and put a lot of effort into designing a system which would work as efficiently as possible, which is something that was important to us. Communication was very good and it was always possible to speak to someone knowledgable or get questions answered by email. The install itself was quite a big job but disruption was kept to a minimum and things went smoothly (there were delays due to bad weather/flooding which was outside of their control), and the system operation was fully explained. So far it is working very well (the house is far more comfortable than with the old system). Overall we had a very good experience with this company and are very happy with the system they have installed.
