Receive a grant of up to £7,500 towards the installation of a heat pump!

Date added: Thu 14 Mar 2024

If the UK is to reach the net zero carbon emissions target set by the Government, we will need to reduce the carbon emissions from heating our homes by 95% over the next 30 years!

To help with this, Home Energy Scotland, funded by the Scottish Government, offers grants and interest-free loans for a whole range of energy saving, bill-reducing, low-carbon technology including Solar PV, battery storage and heat pumps.

If eligible for Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme, homeowners can apply for a £7,500 grant towards a heat pump installation. This grant hugely reduces the cost of a heat pump install, allowing the technology to be available to more homeowners in Scotland.

In addition to the grant, the scheme also offers homeowners an interest free loan towards their heat pump installation. This provides homeowners up to £15,000 of funding towards your new heat pump made up of the grant, and the remainder as an interest free loan.  They are also offering additional support under the Rural Uplift scheme if your property is in a rural or island location.

When taken as a package together with a heat pump or high heat retention storage heaters, Home Energy Scotland are also offering £6,000 towards a PV installation and £6,000 towards battery storage, made up of £1,250 grant funding and £4,750 of interest free loan, paid back over 12 years, for each technology.

Would I Qualify for the funding?

The funding is in place for the financial year and is not means tested, meaning you don’t have to be receiving benefits to apply!  They have advised however, that it is only available until the 'pot runs dry'.

As long as you own your home and live in it (rental properties and second homes are excluded) you can apply for the grant funding and interest free loan.  If it is something you are considering, then it is worth contacting them at the early stages of considering renewable energy solutions for your home.

How do I apply for the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme?

  1. Firstly, using the Warmer Homes Scotland self-assessment tool, check what support you are eligible for.

  2. Contact Home Energy Scotland, either by email or telephone, and discuss with an advisor the green technology you are interested in.

  3. Call our team at 01382 543375 and receive a bespoke quote on your chosen technology.

  4. Following this you will receive a link from Home Energy Scotland to complete their application. If applying for the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme, you will require our issued quote to support your application.

  5. Once submitted, your application is assessed and aims to be approved within ten working days.

It is important no work is commenced on the install before the homeowner has received a written funding offer from Home Energy Scotland.

For your install to be eligible, it is important you choose the right installer for your heat pump system. The Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan Scheme will exclusively endorse installations of high quality, ensuring they meet the standards set by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS).

Customer Feedback

“Following on from using the Natural Energy Company before to fit our Air Sourced Heat Pump, we decided to use this company to fit our PV solar panels and battery storage. Once again they did not disappoint!! Within days of getting the go ahead by the DNO and the approval of our grant/loan, the scaffolding was on its way up. Thank you Natural Energy Company for a job well done!!’’
