Home Energy Survey

The Natural Energy Company offers a comprehensive Home Energy Survey.

Why the survey will help you

If you are considering installing an Energy Alternative in your property, you need to ensure that what you are putting on the house will do the job you expect it to do. There is no point in forking out a lot of money for an installation that is inappropriate, as you are likely to be disappointed. The survey will collect a mass of data that will allow you to make a reasoned and informed choice about what is right for both you and your home.

What does it cost?

We price the survey per room and include VAT in the price. Prices start at just £90 and increase depending on the number of rooms and size of property. The survey is a complex and highly skilled business and requires a considerable amount of work even after the data has been gathered.

The cost of your survey is redeemable against the value of any subsequent and related works carried out by The Natural Energy Company. We will honour this for a period of 12 months from the date of the survey.

What does it involve?

The survey may typically take several hours depending on the size of your home. Prior to this we would ask you to sign a form, giving us permission to survey your home. We will need to measure the proportions of the home including the size of the windows. A whole host of data is gathered about building construction, glazing type, heating and hot water systems, right down to the flooring. We would ideally require access to all rooms including the loft space and any information about fuel usage, such as heating bills will help us to ensure the accuracy of the data. The time of day is not so important, so if an evening is best for you then we will do our best to help.

On completion of the data gathering we would undertake the Thermal Imaging survey; this will concentrate on likely problem areas. During the survey we would be happy to answer any questions you might have about energy efficiency, though would reserve any firm recommendations until we have processed the data.

Data processing and the production of the report, including the SAP/NHER certificate, can take up to a week or so. We would then ask for payment before presenting the report. At this stage we would ask you to take your time and digest the contents; they can be fairly overwhelming but we do try and summarise everything in clear language! A standard SAP survey does not provide enough data to provide accurate analysis to make recommendations for the installation of Energy Alternatives. We use the SAP survey as just one part of the survey.

In the interests of the environment we would prefer to produce the survey in an electronic (PDF) format. This can be emailed or produced on a CD-ROM. However we will, on request, produce the survey in hard copy. The hard copy service is currently at no extra charge, though we intend to make a charge for this in the future as part of our strategy to encourage a sustainable approach to our lives and environment.
