What is an Air to Water heat pump?

A heat pump is a device which absorbs free energy (heat) from the ambient air (the outside air that surrounds your house) and upgrades it to a higher temperature which can be usefully employed for heating and/or hot water. It is electrically operated, and does not need flues, ventilation, mains gas or an oil supply.
